Iraq stun UAE after late own-goal
Reigning champions Iraq stunned the United Arab Emirates 1-0 on Saturday at the Asian Cup with an injury-time own-goal to put the holders in a strong position to make the knockout rounds. And Iraq put themselves in a great spot to join their arch rivals after the unfortunate Walid Abbas turned the ball into his own net as the clock ticked down.
Yesterdays match WAS a real close one till full time, shots on targets were increasing each and every minute,
But it was UAE who had the first meaningful chance on goal, defender Hamdan Al Kamali leaping highest to crash the ball against the post from an in swinging corner in front of a disappointing crowd of just over 7,000.
With both sides badly needing the three points, they made a rash of substitutions to force the breakthrough.
This match got me on my feet, it was intense, exciting, mind blowing at the end when that own goal was scored
but the credit had to go to the UAE caus ethey had more shots on goal and were more than capable of scoring more goals before full time, but sadly the onw goal in the 93rd minute by Walid Abbas who put the ball at the back of his own net was just disastrous
